Currency

National currency is the Dirham (USD 1 = 9 Dhs, £1=16.75341Dhs).

You can withdraw money from banks with a credit card or cheque book, or from automated teller machines in the larger cities. Credit cards are usually accepted in the more important hotels, in shops and restaurants, and sometimes even in the souks !

Tips : Bakchich tipping is a widespread practice : one always needs available small change. In restaurants or cafés, a 10 percent tip is the norm. For carpark attendants or people who watch your car, 1 or 2 dirhams is the rule.
